6 days

is apparently what consitutes as "soon" in my vocabulary. Yup, I'm a slacker!

So, Skills Canada was okay this year. It was a little more disorganized than usual because both Provincials and Nationals were held in Calgary (in preparation for World Skills 2009) - usually Provincials is in Edmonton, where it basically runs itself due to years of experience there. I still am not impressed with the person who I basically report to. However, I told my fellow judge that I would not quit after this year because Calgary is not a "typical" year. So, next year could very well be my last year volunteering with Skills Canada. Plus, I'm hoping to get involved with Nationals next year as they are in PEI! The National board pays travel expenses, otherwise I wouldn't even be considering it (speaking of which, I need to fax in my expense report).

It took me about a week to recover from my week in Calgary (Logan too)! Lack of sleep, a bit of stress... it made for a very tired me.

While we were in Calgary, Logan cut his first tooth. It's his bottom-left front tooth. Man, is that thing sharp! I'm kind of sad... no more "gummy" smiles... but, he's still adorable. :)

This weekend I'm playing in a slo-pitch tournament with people from work. It's supposed to rain all weekend. Grrr... Logan is staying with my sister-in-law (the one that babysits him when I'm at work) and James is hoping to get most of our new fence built. I need to get my butt in gear and get packed - I still haven't decided what time I'm leaving today. My team (we have two teams in the tourney) has a game at 7:30pm, but I want my tent set up before the game (as it will be dark after). If my tent leaks, I'll sleep in the van! ;) I need to stop and pick up another tarp before I leave town.

Speaking of slo-pitch... I'm the pitcher (which I love). This position, however, does come with a bit more risk sometimes. Example - a line-drive approximately 1 foot off the ground directly at me! I got smoked in the shin (last Thursday)... ouch! I'm really good at either catching or deflecting balls that are knee-high and up, but that one was a little low. Do I ever have a pretty bruise. The guy felt really, really bad for hitting me (I saw him again last night and he asked how I was doing). It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would - it would have been much worse if I got hit in my ankle or knee. Oh well, them's the breaks!

I'm *finally* getting a laptop at work... soon. The ones for general sign-out suck - they can barely run MS Office and I need one that runs AutoCAD. Once I have that, I'll actually be able to do work from home again - the projects I'm working on require a computer, as I'm not just checking drawings anymore (thank goodness).

Well, I really need to get packing... and I should put something other than my PJ's on before the delivery guys get here with our fence supplies. Have a great weekend everyone!
